Genius, Magician, or Crazy?
2009-02-19 14:44:26 Genius, magician, and crazy are three very interesting intersections of human perception. How and why do we choose to classify an idea or a person in one category instead of another? Flying in the air, walking on the moon, talking to someone on the other side of the world, raising the dead, making things disappear, reading minds- all of these have at one time or another has been forced into one of these categories- some have moved from category to category. When something appears impossible for any human being to do- those who attempt to do it are generally referred to as crazy, however, when one person is able to do that thing the person is then generally perceived as a magician, and when a person figures out how to do something and then documents a methodology that enables many humans to do that same thing they are called geniuses.
Albert Einstein was most certainly a genius- that fact is undisputed, as was Newton and Edison. Harry Lorayne is a memory-training specialist and magician born in 1926. He has authored a New York Times' best selling book The Memory Book on how to train your mind to better remember things. He would remember the names of 1,500 people that he just met- everyone was shocked and amazed. "Is this not a form of magic?" People would ask. Yet he managed to write a book about how to teach it other people. In Loraynes book Secrets of Mind Power he says: "Don't take things for granted, or as truisms, merely because you hear them proclaimed loudly, repetitiously, and from people or sources that you've been made to believe are incapable of stating anything but facts." David Wilcock is a new age guru and speaker. Most people would say David falls somewhere between "a little out there" or "kinda crazy" or a "cult leader". He is most widely known for his 2012 Enigma speeches that are on the internet right now. Below is an hour and half long video where he talks about his conspiratorial ideas that could be classified as either genius, magic or crazy. I encourage you to watch and form your own thoughts, but instead of instantly reacting to his ideas with your normal judgements try see if you can find similarities to things in the modern world that are similar to his ideas... I classify myself as a somewhat open minded yet conservative individual. I still believe in many aspects of religion. I find it hard to agree or even see rational thought behind some of Mr. Wilcock's ideas but everyday I am seeing more and more magical technology everywhere- for instance I am still totally blown away by video chat.
Be Excellent To Each Other
2009-02-16 16:28:46 I reccently watched the silly old 80's movie Bill & Ted's Excellent Adventure. I loved this movie as a kid. Who wouldn't, you have rock music, zanny characters through all of history, the ability to time travel- but what I didn't understand or even notice as a kid was the main morale of the movie "be excellent to each another" WOW... what a beautiful message laced into this pop culture movie. So simple, so right on! |
